Above: This years bulls lined up.
Badger Creek Red Angus bulls are raised through the Minnesota Beef Cattle Improvement Association (MBCIA) along with the University of Minnesota. They are tested near Spring Grove, Minnesota which is managed by Ron Holty of Foundation Feeders. During the test they are scanned for REA, Rib backfat, Rump backfat, and %IMF.
The bulls on test are fed a total TMR high roughage to promote intake of forage which promotes rumen stretch, rumen health, and results in better performance when put to pasture.
8 Badger Creek Red Angus bulls on test in 2017 had average daily gains between 3.73 and 4.88 – which was the top gaining bull on test this year out of a total of 99 bulls.
